"The Totally Free Site For Your Family Pages" |
|
How To Get your Site On Line
There is currently only one way to submit your family information:
1. Using your own web page program, create the pages you wish to place on The Gen Tree.
2. Ensure that all links in your pages are correct and the layout is what you want!
|
3. Place your web pages in a ZIP format using a program that will allow you to create a zip file. |

NOTE: Some web page programs (i.e.: Microsoft Publisher) place images and .htm pages in the same folder. This will work fine, but if you look at your images after creating the pages, you'll find they have all been renamed to image1, image2, image3 etc. The bad part about this is that you no longer know what a particular image is. This creates a problem when trying to update your site. If your program creates .html and images in the same folder, you will zip them all into a single zipped file. This will be the file you attach to the E-Mail message to the Domain Administrator. If your program creates .html pages in one folder and all images in another, you will have to zip each one separately. You must then attach BOTH files to the E-Mail message to the Domain Administrator. |
6. Send your "zipped" file by E-Mail to the Domain Administrator and he will place it on the internet for you.
If you don't
want to bother making your own web pages, your information can be placed on the
Internet by simply e-mailing me a GEDCOM
file. Once your web pages are on the Internet, you will receive an e-mail
message with the complete address of your own personal site.
